"Oh no! I'm late!" exclaimed Jake cycling as fast as his legs could pedal. He now wished that he had not stayed up late to watch the car racing movie on the television last night. He was sure that this time, he would be punished for his tardiness.
As he was speeding down the alley, he was also trying to think up a good excuse to tell his teacher. Jake was so engrossed in his thoughts that he did not realise that just around the corner, there was another cyclist approaching . Instead of slowing down , Jake cycled even faster. "BANG!" Jake had crashed head-on into the other cyclist. For a moment, Jake and the other cyclist lay stunned on the ground.
Fortunately, except for a few minor bruises, both of them were not seriously hurt. However, the bicycles were badly damaged. Poor Jake! He was now later than ever . He mumbled a quick apology to the other cyclist and quickly picked up his bicycle and started to push it slowly towards school. Needless to say, Jake couldn't leave school early as he had to stay back for detention. Poor Jake!
